Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a subscription to LGC cost?

$15 per month.

Do I have to sign up for a specific term?

No. Your subscription is month to month. You can cancel at any time, and your membership will automatically end when you're current month runs out. In the future, we may offer longer term plans at a discount.

Do I need a PayPal account to join?

No. Click on the small link below the login form at PayPal that reads "Pay using your credit or debit card" (accurate as of Sept. '12).

Is there a payment option other than PayPal?

At this time, we only accept payments through PayPal.

Does LGC store my credit card or other personal information?

The only personal information we keep is your name, email, and username. These are for internal use only; we do not share this information with anyone, unless required to do so by law. PayPal processes and manages your payment information, and we never have access to your credit card information. More detailed information is available in our Privacy Policy.

I just signed up, and I only have a couple of songs in addition to the Technique Archive. Why is that?

An important part of our method is that you practice each lesson in order and for an appropriate amount of time for you to master it. At first, you should focus your practice on the few lessons on your Member Dashboard. After a few days, we'll ask you how they are going, and you can let us know when you're ready to move on to the next lesson. This will add the next lesson(s) in the sequence to your Member Dashboard and redirect you to it.

Also, don't forget about the Technique Archive. If you need something else to work on, find the Technique Archive link on your Member Dashboard and start exploring.

How do I get to my Member Dashboard?

When you sign in, you will automatically be taken to the Member Dashboard. If you need to navigate back to it, there is a link at the top of every page on the guitar headstock.

I'm ready for a new lesson, how do I get one?

Every couple days to a week, you'll see a message pop up on the Member Dashboard asking you if you're ready for something new. If you're playing your current exercises well, click the link provided and you will be redirected to your new lesson. This new lesson (along with any others in that step) will be added to your Member Dashboard.

I can't find the Technique Archive. Where is it?

There is a link to the Technique Archive at the bottom of your Member Dashboard

If I start out at Beginner and progress to Intermediate lessons (or at Intermediate and progress to Advanced), do I have to sign up for a second subscription?

No. As you continue practicing on LGC, you'll get new lessons every few days to a week. When you reach the end of the Beginner (or Intermediate) program, you'll be given the option to advance to Intermediate (or Advanced), or to learn more repertoire at your current level. There will be regular opportunities for you to switch to the more advanced program later on.

I think I chose the wrong level. What should I do?

Send us an email (info@learnguitarcorrectly.com) and tell us about it. Be sure to tell us the level you chose, describe your playing ability, and specify what about the lessons are too easy/difficulty for you.

How much should I practice?

We recommend that you practice 5-6 days per week for at least 30 minutes per day. Even on days when you're extremely busy, try to play for at least 10-15 minutes to maintain your dexterity. However, meeting your daily goals is just as important as working for the right length of time. Some goals we recommend are:

  • Pass a lesson goal in fewer attempts than it took you the day before.
  • Make it through more lesson instructions than the day before.
  • Make fewer mistakes on a challenging lesson instruction.
  • Play a lesson instruction with smoother rhythm.
  • While playing as usual, make an effort to keep your hands, wrists, arms, and/or back relaxed.

How can I tell when I'm ready to move on to the next lesson?

If you're practicing the recommended amount and with good technique, you shouldn't take much longer than when the website unlocks your next lesson. In general, move on when you can meet the goals of each exercise without difficulty.

How do I cancel my membership?
