In this lesson, you will learn a variety of chords.

Goal: Learn 14 open chords from reading charts.

OF NOTE:

  1. Open chords involve open strings and no bars (bar chords will be discussed in another lesson).
  2. These are 14 of the most common open chords, but there are many more out there.
  3. Pay close attention to what fingers you’re supposed to use for each chord.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Lesson 1: Work in order. Play each chord by reading the chart.
  • Lesson 2: Play along with the video to check your work.

Final Thoughts

Even though most chords have a variety of fingerings, try to follow what is written in the exercise. As you develop you'll find that specific situations imply certain fingers to get a particular sound. Right now develop the skill of reading a chart exactly.
